Best RuPay Credit Cards for UPI Payments in India (2026)
Spent time going through the actual terms and reward structures for each card so you don't have to. Here are the three best RuPay credit cards for UPI in India right now, with the stuff nobody tells you upfront.

You are probably here because you pay for most things through UPI and you want something back for it. Totally fair. Scanning a QR code for groceries, eating out, auto rides, and just about everything else adds up to a serious amount of money over a year, and right now all of it is going out of your account with nothing returning.
RuPay credit cards solve exactly that. They are the only credit cards in India that work on UPI right now. Visa and Mastercard credit cards are not supported for UPI linking yet because NPCI built this feature specifically for the RuPay network. So if you want to earn while scanning, you need a RuPay card.
But which one? The headlines say "5% cashback" and "10% rewards" and none of them explain what actually happens. So here is what you need to know for each card.
Quick Comparison
| Card | UPI Cashback | Annual Fee | Min Age | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kiwi RuPay | 1–1.5% base, up to 5% with milestone | Free (LTF) | 21 years | Daily heavy UPI users |
| Tata Neu Infinity HDFC (RuPay) | 1.5% on Tata Neu UPI, 0.5% on others | ₹1,499 + GST* | 21 years | Tata ecosystem shoppers |
| Tata Neu Plus HDFC (RuPay) | 1% on Tata Neu UPI, 0.25% on others | ₹499 + GST* | 21 years | Budget-conscious Tata shoppers |
| Slice UPI Credit Card | 1% to 2% based on Monies balance | Free (LTF) | 18 years | Students and first-time cardholders |
*HDFC regularly offers First Year Free and even Lifetime Free versions of both Tata Neu cards through the Tata Neu app. Check your eligibility on the app before applying at the standard fee.
1. Kiwi RuPay Credit Card
Bank partners: Yes Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, PNB
This is the one card built specifically for people who scan QR codes for everything. Every merchant payment through the Kiwi app or any linked UPI app earns you cashback. No specific stores required. No monthly targets just to get started. You scan and earn.
Fees
| Joining Fee | Zero |
| Annual Fee | Zero (Lifetime Free) |
| Neon Subscription | ₹999 per year (optional) |
How the Cashback Works
Without any paid plan, the base card gives you around 1 to 1.5% on eligible offline UPI scans. This applies from the first transaction with no minimum spend.
If you take the optional Neon subscription at ₹999 per year, the base UPI cashback jumps to 2%. There are also yearly spend milestones on top of that:
- Cross ₹50,000 in yearly UPI spends: rate moves to 3%
- Cross ₹1.5 lakh in yearly UPI spends: rate goes to 5%
The 5% milestone is retroactive. Once you cross ₹1.5 lakh for the year, Kiwi recalculates your earlier transactions at the new rate and credits the difference. That is a genuinely useful feature.
The Reward Currency
Cashback comes as Kiwis. One Kiwi equals ₹0.25. You need a minimum of 500 Kiwis (₹125) before you can transfer the money to your bank account. At 1.5%, you need to spend roughly ₹33,500 to hit that threshold. At 2% with Neon, it is about ₹25,000.
Redemptions only work in multiples of 500. The money lands directly in your savings account.
Milestone Lounge Access
One free domestic airport lounge visit at ₹50,000 yearly spend, another at ₹1 lakh, and a third at ₹1.5 lakh. Three free lounges per year from a card with zero annual fee is decent. Check the Kiwi app for the current milestone structure since these can change.
Welcome Bonus
₹100 cashback on your first transaction.
Eligibility
| Minimum Age | 21 years |
| Maximum Age | 60 years |
| Documents | PAN and Aadhaar |
| Already have a Yes Bank card | You would need to apply through AU Bank instead |
What You Will Not Earn On
Rent, fuel, wallet top-ups, government transactions, cash withdrawals.
Is Neon Worth It?
Check your monthly UPI spending first. If you scan and pay above ₹4,000 to ₹5,000 per month consistently, Neon makes financial sense. At ₹1.5 lakh in yearly UPI spend, you earn roughly ₹6,500 or more in cashback after the ₹999 subscription cost. Below that spending level, the free card at 1 to 1.5% is the better deal.
Bottom line: The best option if UPI is your main way of paying for things. Completely free, cashback goes straight to your bank account, and works with every major UPI app. The only friction is the minimum 500 Kiwis before your first payout, which takes a bit of time for lighter spenders.
2. Tata Neu HDFC RuPay Credit Card
Bank: HDFC Bank, in partnership with Tata Neu
These cards come in two versions and people regularly mix them up. Both are worth looking at if you already shop with Tata brands. One important thing applies to both: you must choose the RuPay variant when applying. The Visa version earns zero UPI rewards. Pick RuPay at the time of application.
Here is how Plus and Infinity compare:
| Tata Neu Plus | Tata Neu Infinity | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Fee | ₹499 + GST | ₹1,499 + GST |
| Fee Waiver Threshold | ₹1 lakh spend per year | ₹3 lakh spend per year |
| Welcome NeuCoins | 499 | 1,499 |
| Tata Neu App spends | Up to 7% (2% + 5% with NeuPass) | Up to 10% (5% + 5% with NeuPass) |
| All other spends | 1% | 1.5% |
| UPI via Tata Neu app | 1% NeuCoins | 1.5% NeuCoins |
| UPI via Google Pay, PhonePe, etc. | 0.25% NeuCoins | 0.5% NeuCoins |
| UPI monthly cap | 500 NeuCoins | 500 NeuCoins |
| Domestic Lounge | 4 visits/year (spend milestone) | 8 visits/year (spend milestone) |
| International Lounge | None | 4 visits/year via RuPay |
| Min income (salaried) | ₹25,000/month | ₹1,00,000/month |
The UPI rate detail that almost no review mentions: the reward rate is not the same on all UPI apps. Paying through the Tata Neu app earns you the higher rate (1.5% for Infinity, 1% for Plus). If you scan through Google Pay or PhonePe, the rate drops to 0.5% or 0.25% respectively. This is a real difference if UPI is your main use case.
Either way, both cards cap UPI rewards at 500 NeuCoins per calendar month. Since 1 NeuCoin equals ₹1 when you spend it on Tata Neu, that is ₹500 worth of rewards from UPI per month. The cap kicks in at around ₹33,000 in monthly UPI spending on Infinity. Most users will not hit it.
NeuCoins Redemption
NeuCoins can only be used on the Tata Neu app or website. Partner brands include BigBasket, Croma, Air India, Westside, Tanishq, Tata 1MG, IHCL hotels, Tata CLiQ, and a few others. If you do not shop at any of these, your NeuCoins will sit unused.
From August 2025, NeuCoins earned have a 12-month validity from when they are credited. Use them before they expire.
Which Version Should You Get?
If you are spending more than ₹3 lakh a year and BigBasket, Croma, or Air India are regular purchases for you, Infinity pays for itself easily. The income requirement is high at ₹1 lakh per month for salaried applicants.
If your income is lower or your Tata spending is moderate, Plus has a much lower bar. The income requirement is ₹25,000 per month and the fee waiver threshold is just ₹1 lakh per year. The rewards are lower but the card is much easier to hold and maintain.
For both cards, check the Tata Neu app first. HDFC regularly offers these with no joining fee or lifetime free for eligible users and that makes the fee comparison above irrelevant if you qualify.
What You Will Not Earn On
Fuel, wallet reloads, rent, cash withdrawals, government transactions, online gaming. Education payments through third-party apps like CRED also do not earn NeuCoins. Pay directly on the school or college website to earn rewards.
Bottom line: A genuinely rewarding card if the Tata ecosystem is already part of your regular spending. Do not pick this just for UPI, the UPI benefit is real but not as strong as Kiwi and locked behind the Tata Neu app for the better rate. Pick it for the Tata brand rewards and treat UPI as a bonus.

3. Slice UPI Credit Card
Bank: Slice Small Finance Bank
Slice merged with North East Small Finance Bank and became a proper bank in 2024. Their current UPI credit card is designed for people who are just getting started with credit. The minimum age of 18 years is what sets it apart from everything else on this list.
Most credit cards in India start at 21. Slice starts at 18. That one difference puts it in a completely separate category for students and young earners.
Fees
| Joining Fee | Zero |
| Annual Fee | Zero (Lifetime Free) |
| Card Replacement | ₹300 + GST |
How the Monies System Actually Works
This is where it gets tricky and Slice does not explain it clearly enough on their app.
You earn 1 Monie for every ₹1 you spend on the card. Simple enough. But the cashback rate you get when redeeming depends on how many Monies you have sitting in your account at that moment:
| Current Monies Balance | Cashback Rate |
|---|---|
| Up to ₹3,00,000 Monies | 1% |
| ₹3,00,001 to ₹5,00,000 Monies | 1.5% |
| Above ₹5,00,000 Monies | 2% |
| Above ₹5,00,000 Monies + ₹5 lakh quarterly savings balance | 3% |
The 3% rate requires both ₹5 lakh in unredeemed Monies and ₹5 lakh average balance in your Slice savings account at the same time. Most regular users will not reach this.
Here is the part that actually matters: the rate applies to your live, current balance. Not your lifetime earnings. Just what is sitting unredeemed right now.
This creates a trap. Say you have built up 10 lakh Monies and are earning at 2%. You redeem 7 lakh of them. Your balance drops to 3 lakh. You fall back to 1% on all new spending, regardless of your history.
So do not redeem in small chunks. Let the balance grow before you convert anything. Once you cross ₹3 lakh or ₹5 lakh, be strategic about when you redeem so you stay in the higher tier.
Most people starting out will earn at 1% for a while. That is fine for a first card with no fees. Just go in knowing it.
The Slice in 3 Feature
Eligible purchases above ₹2,000 can be split into three equal monthly installments at zero interest and zero processing fee. Good for bigger purchases where you want to spread the cost. Just know that Monies earned on that transaction are reversed when you convert it to an EMI.
Credit Limit
Starts from ₹10,000 and can go up to ₹10 lakh based on your income and profile. The low starting limit is the norm for first-time card users.
Eligibility
| Minimum Age | 18 years |
| Occupation | Salaried or self-employed |
| Credit Score | No strict minimum, but approval is at Slice's discretion |
| Documents | PAN and Aadhaar |
| Account Requirement | You will need to open a Slice Savings Account |
What You Will Not Earn On
Gift cards, bank transfers, rent, fuel, insurance payments, wallet recharges. Sliced (EMI) transactions earn zero Monies.
Bottom line: The right starting point if you are 18 to 22 years old and want your first credit card. The Monies system takes some understanding but once you know how the tiers work, you can plan your redemptions properly. Pay your bill on time every month for a year and you will build enough credit history to upgrade to a better card.
Once you start using your first card, here is how to build your CIBIL score faster
Spends That Earn Nothing Across All Three Cards
Worth saying clearly since this is where people get disappointed. Rent payments, fuel, government portal transactions, wallet top-ups, and cash withdrawals do not earn rewards on any of the cards above. EMI conversions are also excluded on most.
If a big chunk of your monthly spending is on these categories, your actual cashback will be lower than the rate suggests.
So Which One Should You Get?
You scan QR codes for most of your daily spending: Kiwi. It is made for exactly this. Free, direct bank payout, works everywhere.
You shop at BigBasket, Croma, or Air India regularly and earn above ₹1 lakh a month: Tata Neu Infinity, RuPay variant. The 5% to 10% on Tata brands makes the fee worthwhile. Check the Tata Neu app for an LTF offer first.
You want Tata rewards but your income or spending is more moderate: Tata Neu Plus, RuPay variant. Lower fee, lower income requirement, still earns well within the Tata ecosystem.
You are 18 to 22 years old, just starting out, or have no credit history: Slice. No fees, no strict CIBIL requirement, and a good way to start building a credit score you can use later.
Information accurate as of May 2026. Reward structures and fees on fintech cards change often. Always verify current terms directly with the card issuer before applying.
